The security guard exits the store every 30 minutes and walks the perimeter of the parking lot and then returns to his chair inside the store. After his 4th walk I asked the purpose of his inspection. He grumbled, "I have no idea. I was told to do so, so I just do it." He seemed more at eased and pleased when I introduced myself and told him that I'd see him again in 30 minutes. His name is Steve.
